Winter driving workshops announced for Bucks motorists
WITH winter and the hazards of icy roads looming, drivers in Bucks are being offered the chance to gain the skills and knowledge to handle the tricky freezing conditions.
Transport for Buckinghamshire, part of Bucks County Council, are staging a series of workshops to help keep motorists on the road when the winter descends.
The sessions are offered in partnership with STS Tyre Pros garages at High Wycombe, Chesham and Aylesbury during November.
Workshops include a presentation by a former Class One police response driver on how to handle vehicles on ice and snow.
And garage technicians will be on hand to show motorists how to conduct basic checks on their vehicles to reduce the risk of becoming one of the 18,000 winter breakdowns on Bucks’ roads.
Janet Blake, cabinet member for planning and transportation, said: “Safety is important on our roads at all times of the year, but any preparation we can take to make sure that we all stay as safe as possible during the winter months is extremely valuable.
“I would highly recommend everyone attending these workshops.”
The workshops take place on the following dates:
• Tuesday, November 19 at 511 London Road, High Wycombe HP11 1EP
• Thursday, November 21 at Amersham Road, Chesham HP15 1NG
• Thursday, November 28 at Park Street, Aylesbury HP20 1DX
The sessions run from 7pm until 9 and cost £10, which includes a car safety pack.
