Gerrards Cross vicar launches wedding fair with a difference
AN ENTERPRISING vicar from Gerrards Cross is throwing open the doors of his church next weekend to host the ‘Wedding Fair with a Difference’.
Nigel Rode, of All Saints Church, is inviting couples to experience the unique character and surroundings of a church wedding during the fair on October 20.
The move comes after a Church of England national survey revealed many people were not sure how they could get married in church or if they were even allowed to.
Rev. Rode said: "The idea is to re-establish that the church is a wonderful place to hold a wedding and for people to know a little more about what’s involved.
"We often find people have misconceptions over church ceremonies and we can set their mind at rest."
Rev. Rode said couples often wrongly think they have to be regular churchgoers or do certain things to qualify for the right to be married there.
He and his team will be available take couples through the process step by step to clear up any misunderstandings.
There will also be a full range of wedding attire, cakes, flowers and other essential services for the big day.
A similar fair last year at St Michael’s and All Saints in Beaconsfield gave Rev. Rode the idea of bringing the venture to his own church.
It runs from 10.30am to 3pm on Sunday, October 20 at All Saints on Oval Way, Gerrards Cross.
