New Chesham college site housing plans submitted
FRESH plans to build houses on the site of a disused college building have been submitted.
Earlier this year plans for 52 new homes - 21 of which would have been affordable housing units - on the site of the former Amersham and Wycombe College campus in Lycrome Road, Chesham, were turned down by Chiltern District Council.
Those plans are currently the subject of an appeal after the council opposed the size, scale and cramped nature of the proposed development.
The new plans, submitted by Cala Homes, are for 45 homes, of which 18 would be affordable.
This is a further reduction from the 60 that was originally suggested by the developer following a consultation with residents.
Also included in the proposals is a sports field with new changing rooms for Chesham Athletic FC, which currently uses the site.
The site had been earmarked for development as long ago as 2010 but it took until March this year for the first formal planning application to be submitted. It has been disused as an educational establishment by Amersham and Wycombe College since last year.
Chiltern District Council is set to rule on the latest plans early in the new year.
