New pre-loved clothes store coming to Marlow
9:30am Tuesday 22nd October 2013 in News
THE owner of a new clothes store coming to Marlow says she chose the town over Henley and Windsor.
My Budoir is set to move into the empty store formerly occupied by Panache women's wear at 19 West Street.
It is scheduled to open on October 31.
It is a new venture for Mary Barlow, who has been in retail for over 30 years.
She said: "I decided it's time to have my own shop. My husband and I have financed it ourselves. We're excited and think it's going to go well.
"Everyone says Marlow needs a dress agency.
"I think Marlow is a good opportunity, it's a such a busy town and affluent area.
"We looked at Windsor and Henley but Marlow's busier and the shop is more affordable. Windsor is extortionate.
"We liked the town and every time we came here it's such a busy, thriving place and we've got a good feeling about it.
"It ticked all the right boxes."
She compared it to dress agencies in London and said it will not be competing with charity shops.
Mrs Barlow, who has moved with her family from Cheshire to Little Marlow, recently, said: "Predominantly, it's women's wear, it's a bit more upmarket and we've got new stock as well."
Although she is unsure at the moment about recruiting staff the shop will probably take one or two part time staff on.
