Police turn away drivers at Marlow Bridge as fines given to over weight vehicles
4:50pm Sunday 20th October 2013 in News
NEARLY £1,000 worth of fines were dished out this week to motorists driving vehicles over the weight limit on Marlow Bridge.
A police operation led to £50 penalty tickets issued to 16 vans.
Officers also reported one offence for using a mobile phone and a prohibition for a bald tyre.
Inspector Scott Messenger reported approximately 25 vehicles were stopped prior to entering the bridge including 4x4 type vehicles and some smaller vans.
They were advised about the weight limit and asked to turn around. He said: "The majority of those vehicles turned around were Range Rover type vehicles owned and driven by local residents."
