Poppy appeal launched in High Wycombe
THE 2013 Buckinghamshire Poppy appeal was launched in High Wycombe on Saturday.
Dignitaries from around the county arrived in Wycombe for two separate ceremonies in the town to mark the launch of this year's campaign to commemorate fallen servicemen.
High Wycombe Royal British Legion President Monty Seymour and town mayor Trevor Snaith took part in the first ceremony in the Chilterns Shopping Centre in the town centre.
They then hot-footed it over to Adams Park for the official launch ahead of kick-off at Wycombe Wanderers' match with Bury.
A cheque for £788.18 raised from last year's launch at the town's football ground was presented to the RBL on the pitch before the game.
Wanderers players each wore a poppy on their kits while warming up before the game - which were personally paid for by manager Gareth Ainsworth.
