IMMIGRATION officials raided a Marlow restaurant and are taking action against a man they believe to have entered the UK illegally.

Staff at Tiger Cub in Station Road were cleared by The Home Office but a man, 53, found living above the Indian eatery, has been placed on immigration bail.

It is the second raid at the restaurant this year.

In February the boss of Tiger Cub hit out at the now defunct UK Border Agency, saying it had got matters completely wrong.

However, the Home Office said the February raid led to the restaurant being issued with a civil penalty notice and a man arrested following the operation voluntarily left the country on August 4.

The latest raid happened on October 28 at 12.45pm.

The Home Office told the MFP: "All staff there were questioned but were cleared of any potential immigration offences, although we did find a man living above the restaurant, who was 53.

"He had entered the country illegally.

"He wasn't arrested, he was put on immigration bail which means he has to report to us regularly while his case progresses and if he's found to have no right to remain he will actually be later removed from the UK."

Restaurant management was unavailable when contacted by the BFP.
