FOUR people were injured this morning after a car crashed and overturned on the M40 between High Wycombe and Stokenchurch.

The collision, at 9.32am, involved just the one vehicle, according to Bucks Fire and Rescue Service.

When High Wycombe fire crews arrived on the scene the small hatchback was on it side and in one of the middle lanes.

Three women and a man were released, injured, before they arrived.

It happened on the northbound stretch of the motorway between junction 4 at Handy Cross and 5 at Stokenchurch.

The stranded vehicle was moved to the side of the motorway by emergency crews.

Although it is not clear the extent or nature of their injuries, the fire service reported that the accident victims were not taken to hospital despite an ambulance coming to the scene.

Police also attended.

Lane were closed but have been reopened.

Two fire engines and crews from High Wycombe attended.

Firefighters reported going out to the same area of the M40 at around 8.15am for a car fire but the initial call out was a false alarm.
