AN ANDY Murray backed tennis in schools scheme in Marlow has received a boost after permission was granted to install new floodlights.

The racquet sport will be played all year around at Great Marlow School in Bobmore Lane, where Paul Delgado, a pal of the Wimbledon champion set up a training scheme this year.

Mr Delgado, Manager of Delgado Tennis, has been strongly backed by both Andy and Jamie Murray in his drive to get more coaches into schools.

Mr Delgado, whose own promising career was cruelly brought to an end, aged 16, by injury, said: "

We are now very excited that planning has been given to put up the floodlights on the tennis courts at Great Marlow School and these will be installed and complete by Christmas this year.

"We plan to run adult teams all year round and will start with both matchplay and coaching sessions starting in January."

Mr Delgado is the brother of current professional Jamie Delgado, who has just played in his 21st successive Wimbledon, and his younger brother Jonny is also Andy Murray's former agent.
