ROTARIANS have revealed they raised about £20,000 for struggling youngsters - with a bit of help from a giant yellow bear.

The Rotary Club of Marlow Thames, Misbourne Matins, and Gerrard’s Cross among others raised the sum for Children in Need.

Members went to collect cash at Heathrow Terminal 1 and 5 earlier this month.

Marlow Thames members supported schools in Marlow – including Burford, Holy Trinity, Spinfield and Foxes Piece and raised £2,400. Colleagues from Misbourne Matins and Gerrard’s Cross also collected at 4 schools in their area.

Rotarian Alan Chifney, from Marlow Thames, said: "We took Pudsey Bear to each school, attended assembly and toured all the classrooms for a photo shoot, provided all sorts of Children in Need merchandise – badges, bandanas, ears and sweets for the schools to sell.

"At Great Marlow we supported the Interact Club there arranged their own fundraising and sold merchandise.

"On the Friday the 16th we had over 150 Rotarians and friends from around the district collecting at Heathrow Terminal 1 and 5 both land and airside from 6am until 8pm. Pudsey Bear was also there to meet the passengers.

"Overall we think our total contribution to Children in Need will be around £30k."
