McDonald's drive through to open in Wycombe on Wednesday

Bucks Free Press: McDonald's drive through to open in Wycombe on Wednesday McDonald's drive through to open in Wycombe on Wednesday

HUNGRY motorists will be able to make a pit-stop at the new McDonald’s drive through in High Wycombe from tomorrow.

The fast-food outlet opens its doors - and its drive-through lane - in Dovecote Road on Wednesday. It will also feature free wi-fi and an outside seating area for diners.

The drive through creates 80 new jobs, with staff having access to development programmes and qualifications ranging from adult certificates in maths and English, to a foundation degree in managing business operations.

Franchisee Cliff Webb said: “We’re really excited to open in Dovecote Road and hope to see loyal fans of McDonald’s coming to enjoy what they know and love, as well as new customers being attracted by the inviting look and feel of our restaurant.

“As a local businessman, I’m keen to ensure steady investment in the area and we’re pleased to be able to provide a significant number of jobs to local people.

“Investing in the development of our staff is also important – ensuring they have good opportunities ahead of them will not only benefit their career but also ultimately help us deliver consistently high levels of customer service.”

Isn't Dovecot Road the dead-end running round the back of Frogmoor? Surely it's Premier Way?

Haha can't believe my comment about the High Street McDonalds having lots of Indian staff was removed. I went there on Sunday and the guy had trouble understanding me and there were about 8 Indian guys stood around the bun section (just past the fryer) speaking Hindi or similar. So the English lessons sound like a good plan. Sorry for joking that the Curry Centre had a mass walk out.

Have also noticed the same thing with McDonalds HW and the free-press that does not allow free speech

You are quite correct. The BFP gave the wrong address last time they reported on it. It is Premier Way. It's very unprofessional to leave such a glaring mistake in the article not to mention sending prospective customers on a wild goose chase

Yes come on BFP, are your journalists really so idiotic that you cannot access an online map? Or God forbid a paper one lying round the office? It looks so unprofessional!

Good for MaccyD's. Unless they erect a blockade on Archway filtering motorists past their restaurant, I will welcome them- choose to go there for dinner every evening and you invite CVD. Or be like me, go there once in a while when you're tired, hungry (leading an active lifestyle etc....) and you'll be fine.

To be fair to the BFP, in the good old days before Archway existed Dovecot Road used to be one long road that incorporated Premier Way, but there are only a few old f@rts around that would remember that!

You are all wrong regarding dovecote road / premier way. Dovecote road used to run along the other side of the car park with access to the car park itself and the would have been the delivery service road for the shops that were where the new Sainsbury's now is. Premier way is named after the hotel and is a new road that was created after demolition of the old Sainsburys was complete to allow for the new access to the carpark and runs through the old surface car park which was originally part of the multi storey carpark. I believe it is also the access for the Hotel as well.

Watchdog, I think you are right. I am confusing Dovecot Road with another road that once ran alongside the Glenister factory

That old road used to be met to the rear by Bellfield Road which once was longer and curved strongly to the left cutting across what is now Morrisons.

What was the name of the road alongside Glenister, was it Glenister Road?

It seems to happen a lot in that area - allegedly
