A CHEF who was due to start at a pub in Piddington broke her leg just days before, prompting her son to step into her shoes to launch a new menu.
The Dashwood Arms in Piddington has relaunched their menu and are hoping to offer diners a higher standard of food.
The chef at the helm of the relaunch is Ben Churchman, who was part of a winning team of three in the Cornish Challenge 2012.
But it was actually his mum, Donna, also a chef who was due to take on the role.
Manager Steve Ferguson said: "We hired his mother, not him. She is a very experienced chef who came from a restaurant.
"On the day before she was due to start she broker her leg. the convenient thing for us was her son had just finished his contract and he stepped into help.
"He is 30-year-olds and really experience."
He said the menu has "stepped up from nice pleasant pub food to high quality food."
Ben said: "It is modern British food. They have got a little bit of a modern twist to it as well.
"We are going for a more gastro pub style of food."
The pub has also just had photos taken for Google Walkthrough, which will be available to view on Google maps.
