ABOUT 100 Cadets from two High Wycombe-based platoons were honoured for their dedication and work with the Royal British Legion.

The 17th Booker and 2nd High Wycombe platoons paraded before the Mayor of High Wycombe Cllr Trevor Snaith and RBL chiefs at the legion’s headquarters in St Mary’s Street, High Wycombe on Thursday.

The affiliation parade was to formally recognise the mutual support between the RBL branch and the cadets – who were all awarded badges.

Organiser Julie Prichard, a former mayor of the town, said: “Over the last four years or so we have worked closely with the cadets, the affiliation is a way of acknowledging what they do for us.

“You name it, they do it – they help us at our various stalls, they collect money at the football and rugby, they help in the Poppy Shop in the Chilterns Shopping Centre – they want to help and that’s vital to our work.”

RBL branch chairman Kevin Taylor added: "It was an outstanding evening and it was the first in a series of affiliation events, as we plan to recognise the contribution of the other cadet platoons in the coming weeks."
