CHILDREN will sing carols around the Christmas tree at a community fundraising event for a terminally ill child after all.

Callous thieves stole a 16 foot tree planted outside the old Masters pub in Brindley Avenue, High Wycombe, ahead of an event to raise money for the care of two-year-old Amber Jutla, who has Infantile Batten Disease.

Amber’s mum Caroline said she was “shocked and disgusted” by the theft which had threatened to spoil the event.

But Ben Mason, who sells Christmas Trees in Aston Clinton, heard about the story and has donated a new tree which will be decorated today.

Raj Chandarana, who runs Tara News which is organising the #LetsMakeDisraeliChristmassy event on Tuesday, said: “Everyone is chuffed to bits, Caroline especially.

“She was taking photos and a video of it being planted as it means the world to her as this might be the last Christmas she has with Amber.

“It’s a really nice tree that has been donated by Ben Mason, we put it up yesterday and we are going to decorate it today or tomorrow.”

The event kicks off at 2.30pm on Tuesday with carol singing by Disraeli School pupils, before games, stalls and a raffle are held inside the pub.
