CHILDREN hoping to get involved in a cherished Marlow Christmas tradition still have time to put their very own stamp on the festivities.

Thursday’s Carols on the Causeway, organised by Marlow Town Council, has a slight twist this year with children designing their own Christmas lanterns.

Crafty pupils will carry their lanterns, which they have made at home or at school, through the town on their way to the carol singing.

The council has supplied LED tea lights for the pupils to light up their designs. The fun begins at 5.45pm on December 19 around the town’s Christmas tree.

Each of six schools involved will nominate its best three lanterns to be judged by Mayor Suzanne Brown and the nominees and winners of the award for the best lantern will be announced on the night.

Mulled wine and mince pies will be available and Marlow Rotary Club will be providing hot roast chestnuts free of charge.
