THE Prime Minister was an unexpected guest as Morris dancers got together for their traditional Boxing Day meet.

David Cameron arrived at The Plough at Cadsden, near Princes Risborough, just as the Whitchurch Morris Men were about to swing into action at midday.

The PM stopped to watch and talk to the Morris dancers before heading inside the pub.

Morris man Nigel Cox said: "It was a bit of a surprise. He stopped and had a chat for about half an hour, then he went off to have lunch.

"We didn't ask him to join in - he was geared up in his walking boots."

For more information on the group go to www.whitchurchmorris.org.uk or call 01494 481478.

Hold on a moment though - the late Seamus Heaney is standing second from left in a green jumper - do you think this could be one of those made-up photos they do when reporting Princes Risborough town Council? (See: http://www.bucksfree

It's so very sad that all that appears left of English (NB not British ) culture and heritage is dubious looking gangs of self-preening self-interested gits prancing , poncing and proclaiming in the countryside and pretending that they know what they are doing.
.
We don't mean the Morris Dancers. They're are OK.

I was just starting to work out some witty comment along the lines of: 'yeah these politicians lower the tone of Morris dancing ...' when I read your closing sentences.

I think he was ! , is that him to the left of the picture, possibly shaking a box with the hand that we are unable to see. These Morris dancing chappies tend to do things in unison. I do not understand the purpose of the one in the middle though, maybe he is a spare something or another.
