Sewage spill on Beaconsfield streets after pumping station problem
SEWAGE has spilled out onto roads in Beaconsfield after a problem at a nearby pumping station.
Residents complained of “raw sewage flowing into driveways” affecting Gregories Road, Beechwood, Furzefield Road and Chiltern Hills Road.
Thames Water confirmed on Thursday there was an issue and ordered a clean-up operation.
Spokesman Becky Trotman said: “A problem at our pumping station on Gregories Road has unfortunately led to diluted waste water leaking out onto the road.
“We are working hard to fix the problem at the pumping station and a team has already been sent to clean up the mess. We’re really sorry to anyone who has been affected by this.”
One reader described the roads as “flooded” with sewage, claiming the drains are overwhelmed and unable to cope with the deluge.
By Friday, teams had arrived to install temporary equipment to ease the problem.
Gregories Road was closed as the works got underway.
