A POPULAR event in the agriculture calendar has been cancelled this year, with floods and heavy rain partly to blame.

The Berkshire College of Agriculture will not hold its annual spring lambing and Open Weekend due to the exceptionally wet weather and building work taking place on the site.

Instead, the college near Maidenhead will host two ‘Lambing Sundays’ in 2015.

Principal Gillian May said: “The College enjoyed its biggest event ever last year with 17,000 visitors over two days.

“The decision to rest the estate will mean that the College can maintain the quality of the experience on a smaller and more personal scale once we have completed the extensive investment in teaching facilities.”

Open Days for student recruitment will take place as planned on Saturday, February 15 and again in May 2014.
