PLANS to convert an Amersham pub into housing have been submitted for a third time.

Developers have submitted updated plans to change The Pheasant in Plantation Road - which is a Listed building - into nine new houses after having previous attempts rebuffed.

The first set of plans for ten houses and four flats, submitted in March last year, were withdrawn by developer Inland Homes.

Re-submitted proposals for 14 houses were then unanimously rejected by Chiltern District Council's planning committee in September, with Cllr Nik Stewert likening the plans to the creation of a 'ghetto'.

Councillors said too many houses were being 'crammed' onto the plot, with Inland Homes including a green space in the new proposals to open up the site.

Two new planning applications have been submitted to the council, both of which involve a partial demolition of the existing pub building.

The first focuses on a rebuild of the 17th century building with a view to converting it into housing at a later date.

The second gives more detailed plans of alterations to the pub and the layout of nine new houses. The plans consist of a two bedroom house, one three bedroom house and five more containing four or more bedrooms, while two affordable housing units with an as-yet unspecified number of bedrooms have also been included.

The Phesant closed to the public in 2012.

Councillors are likely to rule on the proposals in March.
