Library closes for refurbishment
GREAT Missenden's library closed this week to allow the first phase of a refurbishment to take place.
The building is being converted to include a meeting and activity space and a police office on the ground floor - meaning the library will be out of action for two weeks.
A mobile library service is being provided at Buryfields coach park in the meantime to reduce the inconvenience for users.
The library, in High Street, will re-open at 9.30am on Tuesday, February 11 - and after that work to create office space for the police will start. It is expected to take six weeks to complete.
The mobile library will be available from 9.30am-4.30pm on Friday, January 31 and Monday, February 3, from 10am-1pm on Saturday, February 1 and from 2-5pm on Thursday 6.
A celebratory re-launch party is set to take place once the library has re-opened.
Thames Valley Police are moving in to refurbished offices at the library after Chiltern Area Commander Supt Steve Hockin said their old premises in the village was "no longer fit for modern policing purposes".
He added the move would have no impact on to staffing levels or the delivery of policing in Great Missenden.
