PRINCES Risborough Town Council is not raising its share of the council tax for the fifth year running.

At Tuesday night's monthly meeting it was announced the precept for the town council will keep it at the same level for 2014/2015.

Cllr Alan Turner said: "We are able to effectively freeze the precept for five years running and I think that is something to be proud of.

"We have been able to freeze this in very difficult circumstances."

Council committees have saved money across the board and bringing the maintenance team in-house in 2010 has also saved money and generated income.

Cllr Iain McLauchlan, chairman of the finance committee, said: "It is one of the main targets I set myself with it.

"Every one is finding it difficult at the moment and we have got to be mindful of that and make sure we don't impact on people's finances.

"It is wonderful we are able to keep the precept down as it is."
