A SELL-OUT concert in Marlow which was compered by a TV newsreader pulled in £2000 for one of the mayor’s nominated charities.

Marlow Choral Society’s carol concert at the Shelley Theatre, Court Gardens, before Christmas featured ITV presenter Mary Nightingale, whose mother sang with the society.

And during a society rehearsal last week, proceeds from the event were donated to Marlow mayor Suzanne Brown who collected the cheque on behalf of Age Concern’s day centre in Marlow, where she is manager.

Donations from Waitrose and a collection from carol singing in Marks and Spencer allowed the society to give a further £1000 to Peach, a charity for children with autism.

Marlow Choral Society is now in rehearsals for its next concert, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, to be held on May 10 at All Saints’ Church, Marlow.
