Redgrave taken to hospital after TV slopes fall
SIR Steve Redgrave was taken to hospital after taking a nasty tumble on the slopes as part of a reality TV show.
The Marlow man and five-time Olympic rowing champion, who is taking part in Channel 4’s celebrity winter sports show The Jump, fell while in practise for the snow cross event and landed heavily.
The 51-year-old lay motionless for some time, but it was confirmed this was part of a first aid technique for falls while skiing.
Sir Steve was taken to hospital as a precaution and is thought not to have sustained any lasting injuries, but he did miss last night’s show.
However, his stint in the bobsleigh saw him post a winning time, with the multi-talented former sportsman calling on his experience competing for the British Bobsleigh team in the late eighties to carry him through.
The Marlow Rowing Club president, who is due to host a celebrity dinner in March to raise funds for the rebuilding of the club, will return to the show this weekend.
He will battle it out with the remaining contestants to be named champion on the final epidode on Sunday night.
Sir Steve, who is a strong skier, has already breezed through the slalom skiing challenge and scraped by in the skeleton bob contest to reach the final stages.
