FLOODWATER has caused chaos on the roads and around the residences of south Bucks over the last 24 hours.

The Rye in High Wycombe has been flooded, there has been motorway chaos on with the M40 slip road onto the M25 shut, along with several lanes of the M25 itself.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue has been inundated with calls from motorists trapped in water, residents whose homes have suffered flooding and householders alarmed at the rising waters.

Several pubs have reported flooded cellars including the Elephant and Castle in High Street, Amersham, The Queen and Albert in The Green, Wooburn Green.

Cars have been reported stuck in floodwater at several points along the Lower Icknield Way – in Bledlow, where firefighters released two men by winching their cars out and under the railway bridge in Longwick, where they had to rescue a man using drysuits and safety poles.

More vehicles have found themselves stick in water in the B4505 between Bovingdon and Chesham, under the railway bridge in Monks Risborough and along Chalfont Lane in Chalfont St Giles, and also in Bledlow.

Fire crews had to pump water from a garage at the Lancaster Jaguar car dealership in London Road West, Amersham, with specialist equipment.

And concerned resident across the county have contacted Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue for advice and assistance as floodwater creeps near their homes.

Among those sounding the alarm have been residents of The Willows, Desborough Road, HW; Lower Icknield Way in Great Kimble; West Lane, Bledlow; Town Lane, Wooburn Green; Quarrydale Drive, Marlow; High Street, Amersham; Brushwood Road and Missenden Road in Chesham.

A home was hit by the water in – again – Lower Icknield Way in Longwick, where firefighters had to use sandbags and isolate the electricity supply.

Floodwater was pumped from another home in Ralphs Retreat, Hazlemere while firefighters had to isolate the electricity and oil supplies and salvage a property in Village Road, Ballinger.
