SEARCH and rescue teams had to drive through floodwater to help an elderly man out of his home after concerns were raised for his welfare.

All three of the emergency services were called to help out with the rescue operation in Pound Lane, Marlow at around 5.30pm on Sunday evening.

Bucks Search and Rescue, a volunteer force, had raised concerns for the welfare of the man, who is in his 80s, and called for assistance from the ambulance service.

Rescue teams used a hoist and a stretcher to get the man to safety, then drove him through floodwaters to reach the ambulance

The man was taken to a care home after being led to the safety of an ambulance.

Bucks Search and Rescue have been assisting the emergency services by knocking on doors in flood-hit areas to check on residents' welfare.
