ARMY troops rallied into Cookham today to help protect the village from the ever-rising floodwaters.
This afternoon they piled sandbags across the B4447, near to the Crown pub, in a bid to stop the floods from reaching the High Street.
Access to the village has been severely restricted since the floods hit, with traffic now only allowed in and out at certain times of day.
Cookham Causeway is opening to limited traffic,on a controlled basis, from 9.30am to10.30am and 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
Home Secretary and Maidenhead MP Theresa May visited the village earlier this week.
