TWENTY media students made their own superheroes this week including an assassin bounty hunter called Shadow.

The students from around the UK enjoyed the experience of a lifetime on the BFI Super Hero Academy course run in conjunction with Amersham and Wycombe College.

They got to see their sketches and suggestions for super hero characters brought to life using animation techniques to transfer human movement onto computer generated characters.

Some of the characters included Nova, a genetically enhanced super soldier, Soul Reaver, a lost demon Arkus- a cyborg ninja who fights for his own cause.

As well as exploring the college’s extensive animation facilities, students got exclusive access to work with Centroid Motion Capture at Shepperton Studios.

The half-term, nine day residential course is the first of its kind within further education and has attracted 16 to 19 year old students from as far away as Liverpool.
