A HOTEL is gearing up to reveal the fruits of its labours with the opening of a new riverside restaurant after surviving the devastating floods over the last two weeks.

The Macdonald Compleat Angler by Marlow Bridge has almost completed a large-scale refurbishment, which includes newly designed public areas as well as the river-facing restaurant.

The new eatery is due to open in mid to late March, and features a redesigned cocktail bar and reception area.

Despite the recent flooding, which affected parts of the hotel’s most recent extension, the Compleat Angler remains fully functional and open for business.

Some ground floor rooms and staff areas were temporarily taken out of action as flood water surrounded the riverside hotel.

Sandbags were deployed to protect the 64-room accommodation, which dates back to the 17th century.

General Manager Gaius Wyncoll, said: “I certainly feel for those who homes have been affected and I am pleased that we could provide our closest neighbours with a safe place to park their cars.

"I hope that life will soon start to feel more normal again and visitors will not be deterred from coming to this great town, as Marlow is perfectly accessible and very much alive and open for business.”
