Bucks Free Press: Pole dancers take part in world record attempt Pole dancers take part in world record attempt

DANCERS showed off their best moves on the pole as they took part in a world-record attempt.

Members of the I Would Rather Be Poledancing school joined hundreds of other groups around the world as they tried to set a new world-record for the most amount of people pole dancing at the same time.

They now face an anxious wait to see if they have set a new bar – part of a wider campaign to raise awareness about the sport of poledancing, with a view to having it inducted as an official Olympic sport.

Nia Pearce, school director and choreographer, said: “It went really well, our video has been sent off to be adjudicated and now we have to wait to see how many other people took part around the world.

“I am also part of the committee for the Pole Sports Federation trying to get it in to the Olympics.

"We have everything in place and the sport is making so much progress and has so much momentum behind it now.

“It’s just about raising the awareness of poledancing as a sport, not just the other side of things that draws the media attention, and events such as this can only help with that.”

The school are also raising money for the Look Good Feel Better charity which has helped support one of its students through cancer treatment.
