A TEENAGE girl was left with scratch wounds after being approached by strangers who tried to get her to enter their car in High Wycombe.
And, in a separate incident that police say could be linked, an attempt has also been made to lure two 12-year-old girls into a car within the town.
The 15-year-old girl reported being approached by strangers in a red car in Kingsmead Road, at around 9.45pm on Wednesday, February 19.
The people in the car reportedly asked the girl to get into the vehicle, whilst her coat was touched by one of the car’s occupants.
The victim sustained minor scratch wounds, which did not require hospital treatment, before the car then drove off in the direction of Wooburn Green.
In a separate incident two 12-year-old girls were approached by a dark-coloured car in Hamilton Road on Sunday, February 9.
The occupants of the vehicle asked the girls to get into the car and gestured towards one of the girls, although no contact was made and the car drove away.
Chief Inspector Colin Seaton, Deputy LPA Commander for High Wycombe, said: “I am appealing for witnesses to both of these incidents. We are investigating the circumstances and we are currently keeping an open mind as to whether they are believed to be linked.
“If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in vehicles matching those described around these times, please contact police.
“I understand incidents of this nature can cause some concern to people in the local area but I would like to reassure people in the community that incidents of this nature are rare and anyone with any concerns can speak to an officer from their local Neighbourhood Team.”
