RESIDENTS in Beaconsfield will soon be smiling again after it was agreed a drain problem which has plagued a street for 15 years, is finally going to be fixed.

For over 15 years Orchard Road, a small cul-de-sac in Beaconsfield, has had a growing puddle at the bottom of the road.

Resident Eddy Levi, contacted Thames Water about the issue and despite informing him it was an issue for Transport for Bucks they arranged to come out again on February 14 – but failed to show.

A spokesman for Thames Water said: “Orchard Road has experienced flooding because rainwater and groundwater has inundated sewers and drains.

“A team were scheduled to visit, however severe flood warnings in our region meant they were reallocated to urgent jobs in areas where homes were at risk of being flooded by sewage.

“We’re really sorry that our communication has not been up to scratch – we should ring our customers to let them know when we make changes to planned visits.”

However, after the Bucks Free Press got in touch with Transport for Bucks on behalf of the roads residents an agreement was put in place to finally fix the issue.

A TfB spokesman said: “The cul-de-sac in Orchard Road has been inspected by one of our Local Area Technicians and work to clear out the gulley has been ordered to help remove the problem of flooding.

“The gulley cleaning crew are scheduled to attend this site within the next three weeks.”
