Two people dead after Great Missenden car crash

Bucks Free Press: Two people dead after car crash this morning Two people dead after car crash this morning

TWO men have died following a car collision in Great Missenden this morning.

Just before 6am, a black Vauxhall Astra collided with a grey Peugeot 308 travelling in the opposite direction on the A413 Aylesbury Road between Bowood Lane and Leather Lane.

All three emergency services attended the scene, with paramedics treating the two male drivers and a female passenger from the Vauxhall. Both men were declared dead at the scene.

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital suffering from serious injuries.

The driver of the Vauxhall is believed to be aged in his 20s and from High Wycombe.

The driver of Peugeot is believed to be in his 60s from Aylesbury. Next of kin of both men have been informed.

The road was closed until 10.30am, causing huge delays.

Police are now appealing to witnesses to the crash.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have seen either the Vauxhall with two occupants or the Peugeot with only the driver just before the collision at 5.55am is asked to call 101 and speak to PC Sarah Phillips.

The collision was the second on the same road this morning, with another car being involved in a collision at 5am.

A man was injured in that incident but did not require assistance from his vehicle by firefighters.

Unfortunately this was an accident waiting to happen. There has been some sort of water leak at this point on the A413 for a few weeks now and large amounts of water have been running down the southbound carriageway for at least half a mile as a number of the drains were blocked, causing the water run across both carriageways. This has caused a few large potholes to appear and after very cold night I would presume the road would have been covered with sheet ice. Having gone past the scene of the accident this afternoon the water leak has now amazingly been fixed and skid signs on the verges. Whilst I cannot comment on the standard of driving, I think that Bucks CC and the water authorities have a bit of explaining do as this lack of action has certainly been a contributory factor in this terrible tragedy. I am fairly certain that the police must have been aware of this danger, as blue hazard lights were temporarily placed there a week or so before.

who do you think you are "tigeran" and how can YOU tell what happened in this tragedy!!! Reading other sources of information there was an accident on the same stretch of road 1 hour before and also a major water leak known to the authorities along with ice as it was freezing cold last night. Show some compassion and apologise as your assumptions will no doubt have very negative consequences to both families involved in this ACCIDENT!!!

I drove from Leather Lane (a couple of hundred metres east of the accident) into London around 10 mins after the collision. The A413 was extremely icy and there was no indication at all that it had been gritted. The fields in the local area are waterlogged and there is a great deal of run off into the road. I hope the investigation looks at whether the road was gritted or not. My thoughts go out to the families of those concerned.

I drove along the A413 to Aylesbury yesterday afternoon at about 1200 and there were roadworks going on. More concerned with the stop/go board so not sure if this was where the accident happened, but reading Pipnic's comments I think it was.
Too little too late; two families ( and possibly a third) and friends have lost people they love.
My thoughts are with them all.

I am so sorry, I meant no harm, I wasn't pointing the finger at an individual, just making an observation on the day. I truly am so sorry.

It was a cold dawn with occasional ice patches in a few areas. A warning to us all to be cautious. No more tragedies.
