STUDENTS and the Mayor of High Wycombe attempted to put a smile on the face of shoppers last week.
Mayor Trevor Snaith lent his beaming smile to Good Deed Day as Bucks New University students attempted to brighten up people’s day.
It also coincided with Fairtrade Fortnight, organised by The Fairtrade Foundation, so students handed out Fairtrade bananas and flapjacks to passers-by in the town centre last Monday.
Mayor Snaith said: "I was delighted to help launch it. It is fantastic to see Bucks New University students getting involved with the community.
The ‘smile campaign’ was just one initiative during National Student Volunteering Week, which also included students volunteering at the One Can Trust and holding a Fairtrade volleyball match in aid of Bucks Students’ Union’s three Raise and Give (RAG) charities.
Students also volunteered with Chiltern Rangers, clearing woodland and putting up birdboxes in Castlefield Wood and Booker Common.
