BUCKS Best is the name chosen for a radio anniversary beer made by the Chiltern Brewery.

Radio station, Mix 96, based in Aylesbury has 212 entries to its Name The Anniversary Beer.

The new name was chosen for its beer friendly tone and its connection with Mix96 playing ‘Bucks Best Mix of Music’.

Mix96 teamed up with the Bucks independent brewery to celebrate its 20th birthday by producing a new beer, which will be sold in pubs in the area and at the brewery’s shop in Terrick near Wendover throughout April.

Olivia Cowan from Speen suggested the name and has won a tour of the brewery for two and a VIP invitation to the beer's official launch on April 1.

Mrs Cowan, who owns The Old Plow with her husband, Malcolm, was delighted that 5p from every pint sold will be donated to the Mix96 charity of the year, Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital in Haddenham.

Head brewer, Tom Jenkinson, said: "Some of the entries were hilarious and very imaginative. Local Bards have been in fine form."

Bucks Best is going to be a blend of two beers with an extra charge of hops to add complexity and character. It will be a dark chestnut beer 3.8% volume.
