MARLOW’S Mayor says she is looking forward to honouring all those lent a hand during the recently floods at her Civic Service this weekend.

Suzanne Brown wants to celebrate all those who make the town a better place through volunteering and charity work when she welcomes Marlovians to All Saints Church on Sunday.

The annual gathering sees Cllr Brown celebrating almost a year in office as Mayor.

She said: "It is all about thanking those community organisations and volunteers for all they do. I especially want to thanks those who helped out with the flood relief effort.

"There are all sorts of groups helping out and they do it year in years out without complaint and it’s great to recognise what they do."

Since levels on the River Thames reached near-record levels from January, the town council offices have been inundated with offers of help from residents, charities and businesses.

Cllr Brown manages Marlow Age Concern, which is one of her nominated charities during her mayorship along with Marlow Rowing Club.

Last year's event saw MP Dominic Grieve and the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire attend the service as Jocelyn's Towns two-year tenure as Mayor came to an end.

After Sunday's church service, which starts at 3pm, Cllr Brown will hold a reception at the Church Hall.
