A PETITION set-up to stop speeding on a busy Loudwater road has received the backing of Police who have since reprimanded 22 drivers in the area.

Home-owners in Kingsmead Road have petitioned to get more speed measures put in place on the road and Police are now working to reprimand offenders.

PC Bushra Sheikh (pictured) who organised the speeding enforcement, said: “Today has been quiet, but the last few times we have been here we issued about seven fines in an hour.

“We will be recording the average speed of this road soon, we have caught some people driving up to 42mph.”

PC Sheikh also reported that a resident who lives on Kingsmead Road who signed the petition, was caught speeding and issued with a £60 fine.

Councillor Trevor Snaith, Ryemead Wycombe District Council, said: “The police team have done a great job reinforcing the work done by local residents in highlighting Kingsmead Road as an area that warrants further attention.”

Kingsmead Road has a number of speed calming measures but on a stretch of road by the entrance to High Wycombe Rugby Club, motorists are often said to break the 30mph speed limit.

The police team has completed numerous enforcement activities on the road during the morning, afternoon and evening.

Between November 2013 and January 2014 a total of 22 motorists were issued with £60 fines and had their driving licenses endorsed with three points.

Inspector Morland, from the Neighbourhood policing team, said: “Residents have highlighted speeding as a concern and the tickets issued shows motorists must slow down, it is a residential area this is why it is 30 mph.”

Overall 30 drivers have been spoken to so far and warned of the dangers of driving fast.
