A MEETING to discuss the potential development of the Gomm Valley has been called by residents who say they have ignored by a consulting council.

James Whicher said many of his neighbours and residents around the Hammersley Lane area were unaware of the possible development of the Gomm Valley until it was flagged up by his friend in Tylers Green.

He said residents were “outraged” by both the potential development and a perceived lack of communication by Wycombe District Council over the options in its Local Plan, which is currently out to public consultation.

Under the options outlined in the consultation document, about 400 homes could be built on the valley but most of the area would remain undeveloped.

Mr Whicher said: “No-one who lives on the southern part of Hammersey Lane or the Robinson Road Estate has received any information about this.

“Nothing has been put through our doors and I found out by accident from a friend in Tylers Green. Their Residents Association put a leaflet together.

“I was delivering leaflets yesterday and every person I spoke to had no knowledge this was on the horizon again, nor that there was a public consultation. The general feeling about not being told is outrage.”

The council said it sent out 75,000 Local Plan packs via the Royal Mail in the first two weeks of February. WDC said it was “surprised” to hear some homes had not received their copy and were taking the matter up with the firm.

The authority added the consultation packs were also available in libraries, council offices and community leaflet stands around the district.

WDC said it teamed up with parish and town councils, put up posters, placed adverts in the South Bucks Star and had information on the council website.

The authority said details of the Local Plan and consultation were also featured in its Wycombe District Times magazine and stories in the Bucks Free Press.

Exhibitions and meetings are also being held around the district, WDC added.

The public meeting called by residents will be held at the Royal British Legion HQ in Cock Lane, High Wycombe, from 8pm on March 19.

WDC’s two month Local Plan consultation concludes on April 4.
