PARENTS of Wye Valley School students can now keep an eye on their child’s homework progress after a new system was launched.

‘Show My Homework’ allows a parent to view student’s homework tasks, deadlines and grades, for free.

Ms Kirsty Rogers, the director of teaching and learning at the Wye Valley School said in a letter home to the parents that it will be a help for both parents and students.

She said: “We hope that it will improve your child’s organisation, time-management, and help them to keep on top of their work load.”

Quite a few parents will be very pleased to see this. It will give them a chance to see exactly what the task is before settling down to do it for their little darling whilst he/she relaxes with their Xbox.

My son's school have been using this system for a while. A great idea, as long as the staff are keeping it up to date. Of course it also relies on the parents to take an active interest in their child's learning, something we see too little of these days......

No doubt I will be accused of pedantry but what is it with this publication and its frequent inabilty to create an accurate headline?

"Parents in Bourne End can monitor children's homework progress with new system" is not correct, there will be parents in Bourne End whose children do not go to the school in question and there will be parents in other locations whose children do. The school name should be referenced in the headline, it's not rocket science.
