A TIGER-lover from Marlow has announced the latest star-studded event in his campaign to save the threatened species.

Simon Clinton launched charity Save Wild Tigers in 2010, and has drawn support from high profile celebrities such as Joanna Lumley, Brian May and Jimmy Choo.

The initiative stages large-scale events to pull in funds and raise awareness of the plight of the wild tiger, which could face extinction in less than a decade.

And in October, the Chapel Street charity is running the Eastern & Oriental Tiger Express  - a journey of a lifetime through the tiger’s historic habitat in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Mr Clinton said: "In 1900, there were believed to be 100,000 wild tigers in the world. Today there are fewer than 3,500 across 13 countries.

"With a constant threat of poaching and a decrease in habitat, this majestic species could be extinct in less than 10 years if we don’t act now.

"We have worked very hard to develop inspiring opportunities for the wild tiger in 2014. With a number of unique and exciting events planned throughout the year, we hope to continue to gain support for our campaign on an international level from ambassadors and politicians to celebrities and the general public.

"The more support we can achieve the more chance we have to Save Wild Tigers."

Tickets are now on sale for the trip which takes place between October 2 and 6 on the famous Eastern and Oriental Express rail route through Southeast Asia.

The journey includes a night at Raffles Hotel, a stunning Gala dinner, a tiger-art exhibition at the Eastern and Oriental Hotel in Penang and a stay at the Mandarin Oriental.

And the centrepiece of the four-day trek is a gala dinner at the five-star Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpar where guests will mix with royalty, ambassadors and international celebrities at a drinks reception and black tie dinner.

Prices start from £2960. For tickets and information, visit www.easternandoriental.com/tiger www.savewildtigers.org or call 01628 498492.
