THE author of Hugless Douglas went to a school in Little Kimble to celebrate World Book Day.
David Melling, who is an author and illustrator, visited Griffin House Preparatory School in Little Kimble last Friday.
The private school also welcomed children from Great Kimble CofE School to the event which saw David give a talk and help pupils take part in a drawing exercise, followed by a sing along.
Literacy co-ordinator, Tracey White, said: "It went really well. There were lots of happy children. "It was great to have David there. He was very inspiring with his drawings and reading to the children."
World Book Day was last Thursday. The school decided to celebrate the event the week before.
They had teachers reading stories to different year groups, various competitions and dressed up at the end of the week as their favourite book characters.
They also had a visit from author Steve Cole, who penned Astrosaurs and Cows-in-Action books.
A parent, Emma Barnes, helped the children put together their own book, which will be given to the pupils.
