A REPORT outlining the viability of HS2 is due to be released in May - but a review will not be made fully public despite fresh calls for its disclosure by a Bucks MP.

The most up-to-date rating for the controversial project will be made public in two months' time, the Department for Transport's Parliamentary under secretary Robert Goodwill said.

A 2012 review by the Cabinet Office's Major Projects Authority gave HS2 a red/amber rating - meaning there are 'major risks in a number of key areas' and 'urgent action is needed to ensure these are addressed'.

Mr Goodwill said the latest rating from the most recent report by the Major Projects Authority would be published in May.

But he said the rest of the report would not be released after Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin used a rarely-used power of veto to block its publication in January.

Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan had made renewed calls for the Major Projects Authority report to be released in full.

But Mr Goodwill said: "The government does not intend to publish any further information relating to the MPA report."
