A DATE has been set for this year’s Christmas light switch-on and shopping event, which last year brought a 3000-strong crowd of revellers to the streets of Marlow.
A working group at Marlow Town Council, which organises the hugely successful evening, has agreed to hold it on November 21.
Last year’s inaugural event saw swathes of residents take to the High Street for the big switch-on, with actor and Strictly Come Dancing star Tom Chambers doing the honours from a double-decker bus.
Councillors have agreed to book the bus again and are currently brainstorming over who should be invited to flick the switch at this year’s festivities.
And members are looking for sponsorship from businesses towards the cost of the event.
Police have insisted that a road closure must be put in place for this year to ensure safety due to the large numbers of people attending.
Carols on the Causeway will also return for another year, with the Salvation Army band set to be invited along to provide accompaniment to the popular evening.
