The Yorkshire town of Skipton was judged the most desirable place to live in the country due to its proximity to the Yorkshire Dales, a number of well performing schools and low house prices.

Newnham near Cambridge took the silver medal, Monmouth on the English/Welsh border came third and Falmouth in Cornwall was voted fourth on the list.
