POLICE have referred its handling of a collision on the A413 an hour before two men died in a second crash to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The referral is in relation to the actions of officers at a single vehicle collision in which a man sustained minor injuries on the A413 shortly before 5am on March 4, Thames Valley Police said.

Carl Bird from High Wycombe and Michael Tindall from Aylesbury died when their cars collided just before 6am the same morning.

Mr Bird was driving a black Vauxhall Astra towards Aylesbury and Mr Tindall was travelling in the opposite direction in a grey Peugeot 308.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

A female passenger travelling with Mr Bird was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

TVP said it would not comment further at this stage of the proceedings.
