A 62-YEAR-OLD man arrested on suspicion of trying to con elderly people out of their bank savings - including two from Amersham - has been re-bailed.
The man was arrested in connection to 18 instances where homeowners received telephone calls claiming to be from a bank or the police.
The victim would then be told a fraudulent payment had been made on their card and would be asked to confirm their address, bank card and PIN details.
Thames Valley Police say the man, from London, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud for 11 alleged offences carried out in Windsor, three in Ascot, two in Amersham, and others in Oxford and Bracknell.
He answered bail on Thursday, March 13, and has since been given further bail until Wednesday, May 21.
Supt Kate Ford, local police area commander for Windsor and Maidenhead, said: "The police, banks and card providers will never contact you in this manner.
"If you receive such a call, hang up before contacting the police and your bank on a different phone to confirm you are speaking to the genuine organisation.
"Never hand your card over to a third party in this way."
