Flackwell Heath residents debate development proposals
ALMOST 100 Flackwell Heath residents have debated proposed plans for development around the area.
In a meeting held at the Royal British Legion in Common Road last week residents also voted in a new chairperson for the Residents Association.
During the meeting hosted by the Flackwell Heath Residents Association (FHRA), residents had their say on the proposals included in the Wycombe District Council Local Plan.
New FHRA chair, Janet Smith, said: “The timing of the AGM gave us an ideal venue and opportunity to publicise the local plan as we have had a lot of feedback that people either didn’t receive the WDC leaflet, or didn’t realise its significance.
“FHRA also needed to know how our members, and other villagers, feel about the plan so we can accurately represent their views in our own response.”
She added: “I joined the FHRA committee because I like living in a village and I’d like to help conserve the village’s character.
“Community is important to me and I think you have to get involved to keep community spirit alive.”
A number of concerns were raised during the meeting including the proposal of a development on Abbey Barn Lane.
During the meeting residents said even though plans were in a very early stage they were worried about the proposals.
They are now being urged by the FHRA to have their say on the proposed plans.
Mrs Smith said: “We feel it is important that members and other villagers take this opportunity to send their individual views on the options suggested in the WDC plan for our area. “This consultation process, as laid out in the leaflet and on WDC website, asks for view’s, ideas and concerns from ‘Everyone’ but the time to respond is limited.”
