'OXFORD - before the University' will be the subject of the next talk hosted by Marlow Archaeological Society.

Anne Dodd, who has managed post-excavation analysis and publication at Oxford Archaeology’s Oxford office since 1999, will be giving the talk which will focus on the medieval town before the university was established in the 12th century.

It will look at the Viking wars of the ninth century and the Anglo-Saxon response, along with Oxford's Saxon defences and the impact of the Norman Conquest.

The event, next Thursday, April 3, will run from 8pm in the Garden Room at Liston Hall.
Entrance costs £3.50 for non-members, £2.50 for members and £1.50 for students.
