POLICE have announced they will be conducting an investigation into their own actions after a double fatal collision on the A413 near Great Missenden, earlier this month.

The investigation is in relation to police actions following a single vehicle collision which took place shortly before 5am on the A413 road.

This collision occurred about an hour before another collision involving two cars, which resulted in a double fatality.

Carl Bird from High Wycombe and Michael Tindall from Aylesbury died when their cars collided, just before 6am on the same morning as the single vehicle collision.

Paramedics treated the two male drivers and a female passenger from one of the cars. However, both men died at the scene.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital and an investigation in to the cause of this collision is ongoing.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) will be conducting the investigation under the supervision of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

TVP referred to the IPCC last week following the collision. The IPCC have now referred the matter back to TVP to conduct the investigation.
