A LUCKY High Wycombe resident has won The Hospice Lottery – which had previously rolled over for 46 weeks to build the highest prize in its history.

A woman, who has asked to remain anonymous, scooped £9,200 in the lottery which raises money for six hospice partners including Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity in Aylesbury and South Bucks Hospice in High Wycombe.

“I never in a million years expected to win this amount. I'm truly overwhelmed. The news hasn’t quite sunk in yet.

“I joined the lottery because my friend was cared for by Florence Nightingale Hospice and the nurses and care she received was fantastic.

“My first thought when I found out I had won, was that I could help even more and I shall definitely be giving some money back to HLP to help in their fundraising for the six local hospices they support.

“I shall also be buying myself a new cooker as mine is about 20 years old now and on its last legs. As for the rest, well I shall treat the family to some trips out and have my first proper holiday in ten years.”
