THOUSANDS were raised for charity as dignitaries and celebrity TV cook Mary Berry dipped into their pockets at the Mayor of High Wycombe’s Ball.

The Great British Bake Off judge joined councillors, the fireservice, various Wycombe businesses and charities in supporting Mayor Trevor Snaith’s charity dinner in Wycombe Abbey’s grand hall on Saturday night.

The ball is held every year in aid of the Mayor’s Appeal which, this year, is raising money for Child Bereavement Fund and the One Can Trust.

Mayor Snaith said: “It was a brilliant night, a really good party with about 130 people, who were all very generous, and we raised thousands of pounds for two wonderful charities.”

A silent auction raised £3000 and a further £1500 was raised on the raffle alone. A full final total will be announced in due course.
